Put on a fancy hat, sip one of these delightful Blackberry Mint Juleps and transform yourself straight to the Kentucky Derby. These quintessential drinks are so refreshing and a touch of fresh blackberry is such a welcome addition to a perfect medley of flavors. Load it up with plenty of crushed ice and a sprig of fresh mint for a celestial experience.
I am not a huge bourbon drinker, but love the added sweetness and touch of mint this cocktail offers. It is a welcome deviation from my usual drink of choice, the martini. I decided that a touch of fresh fruit was definitely in order for me to truly enjoy this beverage. It is so simple to make, just muddle fresh blackberries and mint together with a generous amount of sugar and whiskey. Oh…and some water! Unless, you want to be on the ground before the race even starts…LOL!
I have to credit my brother for kindly picking me these beautiful fresh mint leaves. Apparently, they are very hard to distinguish to the untrained eye. Me: Can you bring me some of the fresh mint you guys have? Him: Uhhhhh, I don’t even know what that stuff looks like. Me: Seriously? Just go around the area and sniff leaves until they smell minty! Him (after finally bringing said mint leaves): You really owe me for this…I want credit on the blog for this (and so credit has been given as deserved…LOL).
