Happy Halloween!!! This Orange Apple Cider Hot Toddy is the ultimate soothing cold weather cocktail! It is a sure way to warm you up after a cool and rainy night. It is easily made with apple cider, fresh orange juice, Amaretto, bourbon and cinnamon. The Amaretto is a welcome sweet addition to this warm cocktail and blends beautifully with the cider and orange flavors.
I am not a huge fan of whiskey and would normally have a martini instead, but a Hot Toddy sounded too good with this cooler weather. I decided to sweeten this drink up a bit with some apple cider and Amaretto to cancel out some of the strong whiskey flavor. It really turned out delicious this way and gave me the feeling of ultimate relaxation. Let me give you a little warning…try to avoid substituting ground cinnamon for cinnamon sticks with this recipe. It looks like a hot mess and just floats to the top (learned that the hard way).
I am super excited to take both of my daughters trick-or-treating tonight! My daughters are 1 1/2 and 4 years old and they are going as a princess and Wonder Woman. Seeing a one year old as Wonder Woman is pretty hilarious (leave it to her Dad to pick that out)! It was insanely cold and windy here in the St. Louis area last year and my youngest didn’t get to go. My other daughter looked like a shivering popsicle when she returned…keeping my fingers crossed that it stops raining before tonight. I will definitely be having one of these drinks to warm me up when we get back. It will probably be followed by a Candy Corn Martini! LOL…the things you have to do for fun during the holidays!
By the way, I had the most marvelous breakfast this morning…Pumpkin French Toast with Butterscotch Syrup. OMG…pumpkin is here to stay year round with this recipe!!! You will want to stay tuned for this one! Check out my other delicious cocktail recipes on my Saturated Saturday page. Cheers!!!
