A Monster Mudslide is the perfect adult treat for these hot summer months! It is far from your average muddy dream with the addition of ice cream, peanut butter, chocolate chips and M&M’s to the usual Kahlua and Baileys confection.
I definitely started my 4th of July celebration with a bang this weekend after indulging in this sinful treat! I started off thinking a regular mudslide would suffice, but it somehow turned into a colossal concoction that has me drooling just thinking about it. The biggest regret was forgetting to clear away the bowl of candy and chocolate chips after taking pics. Idle little hands seemed to have found the treasure once again. Note to self…need to make a virgin version of this for the kids next time!
You can change this recipe up a bit by adding whatever extra little chocolate candies you have on hand. Its like drinking a DQ blizzard with the bonus of alcohol! I was so stoked when I found these red, white and blue M&M’s to add a bit of a 4th of July vibe. I just love these kind of win-win situations in life!
I hope your holiday is getting off to a better start than ours. My poor hubby got a horrible bout of the stomach flu or food poisoning over the weekend (no, not from my cooking). Anyhow, drinking alone is okay in these kind of situations, right? A sparkler or 2 on top of any cocktail could be so satisfying. Especially, when trying to stay focused on writing a blog post when the sun is just calling out to you for a day of endless fun.

This Leprechaun’s Kiss Cocktail is so fun for St. Patrick’s Day. A mixture of Blue Curacao, orange juice and vodka makes the perfect shade of green! A splash of sprite creates a bit of fizz at the end of your sprinkle rainbow.
This is a drink to be savored year-round! I’m in love with any cocktail that has Blue Curacao. The flavor is wonderfully sweet and will have you forgetting you are even drinking alcohol. Danger, danger, danger…beware (or not)! Whoops, seem to have an empty bottle situation on my hands here. It took a few tries to get the color “just right”.
Thank goodness its Friday! Its just been one of those weeks that draaaaaged on and on. Maybe, its due to cramped quarters or numerous kiddo meltdowns (including my own). Let’s just say, that a few of these is definitely in order this weekend.

Just try to fit in a carrot stick in there somewhere. I better go start planning the next big cocktail for Cinco de Mayo. For once, procrastination just isn’t a problem. Maybe I should go organize something with this new found initiative to conquer it all. Oh wait, never mind, that just passed.

A Chocolate Covered Strawberry Martini makes the perfect Valentine’s Day cocktail! This creamy drink has fresh strawberry puree, chocolate and strawberry vodka, and a chocolate covered strawberry garnishment. A festive, red sugar sprinkle rim tops off this dreamy delight with swirls of chocolate syrup.
Chocolate covered strawberries are mandatory around here for Valentine’s Day and luckily, they are super easy to make. First, make sure your strawberries are washed and dried well. Melt a bag of chocolate chips in a double boiler, transfer to a small bowl, dip ’em real good, twirl ’em, and let them cool off on wax paper. Store them in the fridge once cooled for a great Valentine’s treat. My family literally fights over them! That’s why it is absolutely necessary to hide a few for yourself. Beware, its quite the conundrum when you discover your kids have eaten the chocolate coating off of said strawberries while they are ‘safely’ cooling on the counter.
Have you seen all the flavors and brands of vodka available these days? I don’t want to know how many of them are in my cabinet(s)! I’m going to need a vodka cellar in my new house (if there is such a thing). My mother is literally triple wrapping my precious bottles for my upcoming move as I type. Yes, packing avoidance is a true disorder and I have it. Oh lawd…my MOL just said she was going to drink the bottles that “don’t have much”. Hmmm…maybe she is on to something.

Okay, so I should really be packing right now. I think a martini or 2 is in order to get through the many hardships of moving and my daughter just colored her face and feet with markers. Feel free to use Gingerbread Man Cookies or Ginger Snaps for a garnishment. The extra bit of cookie adds a welcome ginger flavor to this creamy, dreamy martini. I made a super easy Ginger Simple Syrup with cloves and fresh ginger to get that sought after cookie flavor. Hot Damn! Schnapps adds a Hot Cinnamon flavor for an extra bit of spice.
I really need to get a move on it! I just sent my husband to the store to buy ingredients for Christmas Eve Bread Pudding. Right before he returned, I realized that we also still need to buy ingredients for our favorite Christmas brunch items. A Broccoli Cheddar Breakfast Strata and Overnight Apple French Toast are on the menu with a festive Candy Cane Crescent Roll Pastry. I plan on making everything before bed on Christmas Eve, so I can try and enjoy a somewhat carefree morning.
HA…one can only dream! Hopefully, that Barbie Dream House will be big enough for “sharing”. This skill is just so difficult for these sisters to master. Tiny gladiators seem to come out swinging every time there is a shiny new item. There is just so much fun to be had…standing in line for 2 hours to only have your 2 year old have a complete meltdown when it is finally her turn to sit on Santa’s lap. Well, at least one kid showed up for pictures. I think letters to the North Pole are in order for next year!

This Caramel Creme Brulee White Russian is inspired by one of my favorite seasonal latte flavors at Starbucks. The addition of vanilla and caramel syrup, a floating of whipped cream, and crushed caramel candies makes this the most decadent drink combination. The Dude would be so pleased and I’m over the moon just thinking about drinking another one!
My love for White Russians began shortly after seeing The Big Lebowski for the first time. This was not a shaken, not stirred type of character situation. The Dude just liked to lead a lifestyle of total leisure while bowling with his favorite drink in hand. Sounds good to me, especially when it includes creamy goodness and vodka!
I’m sure you’ve seen different variations of this drink before, but I really wanted to do something a bit different. I was probably drinking my favorite latte from Starbucks when I had a total cocktail epiphany…need latte and White Russian. I had no luck finding the vanilla syrup included in the latte recipe, so I decided to make my own. A simple syrup is quite easy to make and necessary for many great cocktail recipes. Just combine equal parts sugar and water and bring to a boil until thickened. Remove it from heat and add any additional flavorings.
I may have a hole in my bathroom wall days after selling my house (who would of thought a new light fixture would lead to a plumbing leak), but who cares! OH and yes, the kids are both sick again. No problem man…one of these has successfully made me forget about all my problems. The flavors are just SO good and it feels wonderful to drink my dessert. I love you Kahlua and vodka!
